The Belgian-Hungarian B2B virtual business meeting on the topic “Products and technologies of sustainable development” was held last week from 16 to 27 November. The meeting was organized by the AWEX agency.


AWEX - Walloon Export and Investment Agency, responsible for promoting foreign trade and attracting foreign investment for Wallonia in Belgium. In 2011, the representation of Wallonia was supplemented by a representation of the Brussels Capital Region, the Brussels Invest & Export Agency. Its key sectors are agriculture and food, aeronautics and space, engineering and new materials, transport and logistics, life sciences, and environmental technologies.


From the Hungarian side, the participants were mainly the Archeneg Cluster and its cluster members. In addition, Hungarian companies were present who participated in the meetings as potential purchasers / cooperating partners. The main goal of the meeting is to establish a perspective relationship between Walloon and Hungarian companies.

The territory of Wallonia is 55.2% of Belgium (16,844.3 km2), consisting of 5 provinces - Hainaut, Walloon Brabant, Namur, Liège, Luxembourg, 20 administrative areas (arrondissements) and 262 municipalities. It has a population of 3.589 million inhabitants. Wallonia accounts for 0.10% of world GDP, but Walloon businesses account for 0.30% of world trade. Average annual growth in international trade in goods and services: 3.8%. 8,000 companies export using AWEX.
