According to the association, domestic travel is facilitated by the steady increase in the number of charging stations: most of them are located along motorways and main roads, and in the Lake Balaton area: at the end of 2022, there were 2,147 charging stations in the country, 14 percent more than a year earlier. According to the association, the expansion of the infrastructure is also justified by the 47.4 percent increase in the number of electric cars in a year.

According to the information, in 2022, the number of cars with green plates in Hungary broke all records, including the biggest increase in the sale of pure electric cars, with 34,754 on the roads at the end of the year. According to the latest figures, 41,386 pure electric cars were on the roads in Hungary at the end of June this year, while the number of cars with green plates exceeded 74,000.

The Future Mobility Alliance has several tips for people on longer journeys, such as the high speeds that can make an electric car travel up to 30% less than the usual urban car, regardless of make or model. The range is also affected by the number of bags and the use of air conditioning: cooling, for example, can reduce the range by up to 20 percent.

Another piece of advice is to find out about chargers, where you can find a lightning charger, an ultra-fast charger or a DC charger, as choosing the right charger can save a lot of time. With an electric charger, 20-50 minutes is enough to "refuel", although this is only 5-10 percent of the total number of chargers.

As an example, the association mentions that if a family drives from Győr to Gyula in a car with around 50 kWh, for example, they will probably have to stop at a charger on the way to cover the 339 km journey once, depending on the type of car.

The statement quotes András Kárpáti, President of the Future Mobility Association, who recommends plugshare.com as a good starting point for finding a charger.
