Financing Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Projects in Slovenia

The Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institutethe Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and the Institute Jožef Stefan, Centre for Energy Efficiency are organising a national roundtable on financing sustainable and energy-efficient projects in the private and public sectors in Slovenia as part of the EU LIFE projects RENOINVEST and SMAFIN EXPANDED.


The aim of the national roundtable is to stimulate dialogue between key Slovenian stakeholders about the obstacles at all stages of financing such projects and ways to improve access to public and private finance for sustainable and energy-efficient investments in the public sector, housing and business.

Opening Plenary Topics:

The policy for financing sustainable and energy projects in Slovenia, the public
funding sources for this policy, the implementation of the financing policy until 2030.

The two thematic round tables, which will include presentations of expert
contributions, will deal with recommendations for concrete measures to remove obstacles to the financing of sustainable and energy-efficient projects in the following areas:

Thematic Roundtable 1 – RENOINVEST: Circular Economy in Construction

  • Financing and legislation supporting sustainable building materials

  • Reuse of materials in sustainable renovation practices

  • Circular economy principles and the use of nature-based solutions and products

Thematic Roundtable 2 – SMAFIN EXPANDED: Energy Efficiency First

  • Financing needs and targets for energy efficiency

  • Existing financial instruments: lessons learned and future potential

  • Application of the EU Taxonomy Regulation in Slovenian financial institutions
