At the 3rd Slovenian national roundtable of the RENOINVEST LIFE project, organised on 8 December 2025 by ZAG and GZS, stakeholders discussed the main barriers and opportunities for scaling sustainable, energy-efficient building renovations in Slovenia. The event introduced the key directions of the emerging Slovenian Action Plan and explored how renovation uptake can be accelerated through stronger policy coordination, more attractive and accessible bank financing, and higher awareness among building owners.

Key discussion highlights

  • Policy coordination: Representatives of public authorities (MJU, MSP, MOPE, MGTŠ, Office of the President of the Republic) underlined that faster progress depends on treating the green transition as a strategic priority—enabling more effective inter-ministerial cooperation, clearer decisions, and stronger support for renovation programmes.

  • Bank financing: The second section focused on commercial bank instruments for apartment owners, with good practices presented from Latvia (ALTUM) and Estonia (EIS), followed by a discussion on how to improve renovation financing in Slovenia, including cooperation with private capital.

  • Awareness: Data on sustainability awareness in Slovenia and a practical example of a successful apartment-building renovation confirmed that better understanding of renovation benefits is essential to increase interest, confidence, and demand among owners.
